Dial-up script

An .scp file contains a connection script for dial-up networking on Windows. The plain-text script automates the login dialog with a remote access server: wait for a prompt, send a name, send a password. Windows ships example scripts such as pppmenu.scp and cis.scp. The remote access service runs the script during the connection. The mechanism is legacy.

A file extension is only a part of the file name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the program that opens the file.
