Windows Performance Recorder profile Reference

A .wprp file is a recording profile for the Windows Performance Recorder. The XML file defines which event providers the recorder enables and how the buffers are sized. Performance engineers start a trace with a profile and analyze the result in Windows Performance Analyzer. Windows ships built-in profiles for common scenarios. Custom profiles target specific problems.

A file extension is only a part of the file name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the program that opens the file.
