Configuration file Reference

An .ini file contains configuration settings in plain text. The INI format groups key and value pairs into sections with bracket headers. Programs read the settings when they start. The format is simple, and a person can change it by hand. Windows and many applications on all platforms use .ini files.

A file extension is only a part of the file name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the program that opens the file.
